The Effects of Summer Beach Project
Summer after summer, college students around the world decide to move to the beach, live in close quarters, work minimum-wage jobs, and grow in their relationship with God. It makes my head swim when I consider how many 18–22-year-olds have attended a Summer Beach Project. Though the structure has changed over the years, the truth remains that students consistently leave changed.
This year, the ministry in Australia added 24 students to the total. Each student had a different reason for attending this fun yet intense time at the beach, and once again, each was uniquely impacted. We asked a few, “What was a highlight of SBP?” They replied
Learning to lead others
Understanding better how to study God's Word
Developing a greater burden for the lost world
Learning to admit weaknesses and trust God when times are hard
“Ella” has attended ministry events throughout the year and has met individually with staff for a while. God had softened her heart, and Ella decided to attend SBP. While at the beach, she professed faith in Christ!
A friend in the dorm invited “Iliana” to SBP. After several great conversations about faith, she accepted a copy of The Case For Christ and has been reading it alongside the Bible. The project ended, but “Iliana” still wrestles with hard questions about Jesus.
CO SERVE is privileged to support the ministry in Brisbane, Australia. Join us as we pray for these students as they head back to campus this month.
