Snapshot: The Khula Project

Campus Outreach South Africa conducted Khula Leadership Project at the end of their academic year.  Khula means “grow” in Zulu, and that is what the students who attended did! Going away in this fashion provided a “greenhouse” for spiritual growth as university students spent time in God's word, received further training in how to read the Bible and apply it to their lives, learned how to relevantly and winsomely share the gospel with others and engaged in community outreach. What a catalyst for vision and growth!

Siyabonga, mentioned in our last blog post , attended the Khula Project and will return to the University of Cape Town to serve as the head resident of his residence hall. He is beginning to catch a vision of walking closely with the Lord, being discipled, and spiritually leading others!

Other students’ responses about their growth on the project:

“I’ve gotten to experience real community and how important it is in my walk with God.”

“It’s so great to really know how to read the Bible. I now have the tools to open up the Bible, study it, and know God more.”

“I don’t really have family, but God has shown me that this group is my family.”

“I’m so thankful to be in college and have many friends who are Christians. This time helped strengthen our community.”
