Snapshot: Staff Renewal
One of the greatest challenges that missionaries often face is burnout. The spiritual needs are endless, and the physical capacity and energy to continue serving and meeting needs are limited and finite. Samm Poteat, Women’s Development Coordinator for the CO Midwest Network, saw a need for renewal among key CO staff women. Samm invited 18 staff women together for a vision retreat. The theme was Renewal. There was discussion on key beginnings (in Christ and as new CO staff) and reflecting on when it was all new. Lindsey Willsey, Campus Outreach staff alum, shared stories about various challenges during her years serving three different regions and what renewed her zeal for ministry. Emily Stephens shared about Personal Renewal in Crisis — navigating the differences between idleness and striving for true rest. They also discussed the present challenges in ministry and what is needed for renewed vision. The beautiful gathering was closed out in prayer and singing, leaving all in attendance feeling renewed.
