Is God Moving in West Georgia?
Ben Weber is on staff with Campus Outreach and disciples young men on the baseball and basketball teams at the University of West Georgia. Many of the athletes enrolled have never read the Bible personally! They might have heard a sermon or attended a pregame devotional, but very few have read or even owned a Bible. Ben challenges these athletes by saying, "I don't care what your grandma, coach, girlfriend, or pastor thinks about Jesus! Have YOU studied his life?" Then, he invites them to INVESTIGATE JESUS by reading the Gospel of John.
Last fall, 30 men committed to reading John, and 13 of them made professions of faith!
Hear what a few of them shared:
"I never understood GRACE before. I always thought I had to earn God's acceptance. Now I know it's a GIFT!"
"I realized that READING THE BIBLE needs to be my priority every morning!"
"Before this semester, I HAD NEVER OPENED THE BIBLE. Now I wake up wanting to read it and hear more about it on Sunday at church!"
"I've always built my identity around being a baseball player first. Now, I see that Christ comes first and then my sport — I AM A CHRISTIAN WHO PLAYS BASEBALL!"
"This is the first time I've read and discussed the gospel — I finally get that salvation is not about what I do. Christianity is all about trusting in what CHRIST HAS DONE!"
