How It Started — 1982

The first Summer Beach Project took place in 1982 and was an eight-week investment. Students from a couple of smaller universities committed to growing in their relationship with Jesus Christ by studying the Bible, praying, building relationships with other college students, working a full-time job, sharing the gospel, and attending a local church.

How It’s Going — 2023

Fast forward 41 years, and look what has happened: MULTIPLICATION! The number of locations has grown, and the length of the projects varies, but the purpose remains the same! Nearly 900 university students committed this summer to study, pray, build, and share in the context of a local church for the glory of God!

Henry Varley once said, “The world has yet to see what God can do through a man who is totally yielded to Him.” We are excited to see what God will do through these students as they return to campus this fall and live out the fruit of their summer commitment.
