February 2024 Prayer Calendar
In April of 1940, Gladys Alward set out with 100 orphaned children on a 200-kilometer walk to find safety in Free China. Air raids by Japanese planes had destroyed their home and town. Twelve days into the march, they all arrived at the Yellow River, which was swift, deep, and about a mile across. There was no ferry in sight, and the town was deserted. Gladys waited three days and began to despair.
One of the young girls reminded Alward of Moses’ story and the Red Sea. Gladys reminded the girl that she wasn’t Moses! The girl responded, “Of course you are not Moses, but God is God. He can open the river for us.” Convicted, Gladys knelt to pray. Soon, she was interrupted by a Chinese officer who listened to their story and messaged for a boat to carry them across the river.
You may only know some of the names on the prayer calendar below. These ordinary men and women like Gladys Alward have left their homes and traveled to spread the gospel's good news. Each represents multiple evangelistic and discipleship relationships that need the Lord to show up and provide. Do we believe God is God? Please join us and pray.
