A Fresh Start
After teaching for five years, Billy Kor left the secular workforce to join Campus Outreach staff in the Midwest. He was assigned to St. Thomas University in Minnesota, his alma mater. When Kor arrived on campus in 2019, only one student was interested enough in the ministry to attend the New Year's Conference. This past year 17 students attended. God has obviously been at work. When Billy was asked about his approach to ministry on a campus where he was the only staff and starting from scratch, he responded, “I’ve done just as I was taught … ‘Dream big! Start small! Go Deep’! I get up and go to the gym and meet guys. I walk into the dorms and meet guys. I go sit down where students are having lunch and meet guys.”
Billy’s follow-up with those he met has led to discipleship relationships with two upperclassmen. When a group of freshmen wanted to meet for Bible Study, he charged the upperclassmen with leading the freshmen group. Several young men have been developed into leaders in the last three years, but in Billy’s words, they were “missing an entire half of the Church.”
In the fall of 2022, the Lord provided a woman to join the staff team. Ellie arrived on campus, and the Lord is already using her to bring students into the Kingdom. One freshman shared, “Meeting you has changed my life. I want to be baptized and follow Jesus.”
As you read this, the summer beach project in Murrells Inlet, SC, is underway, and seven students from St. Thomas University are attending. Billy trusts that this time commitment for intense training in their walks with God and evangelism will prepare these students to multiply their lives on campus in the fall and to labor in the world for a lifetime.
